Free Tax Help for Low to Moderate Income Earners

Resource Genesee is part of the Genesee County Tax Assistance & Financial Services Coalition. The Coalition provides free income tax preparation services from February-April each year. Specially trained volunteers prepare your taxes for free if you qualify.

In particular, they want to make sure you take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) if you are eligible. The EITC is a tax break for working families and individuals designed to reduce the tax burden and supplement the wages of low to moderate income workers.

Millions of dollars in tax refunds goes unclaimed each year by people who did not know they qualified for the EITC. For more information on the tax credit, visit the state EITC web site at www.michiganeic.org/about.

A limited number of spaces are available for low-to-moderate earners to have their income tax returns prepared for free. Call the sites below to schedule your appointment. First come, first served.
